Destination XL reduces chargebacks at the source

6/27/2016

Men’s apparel retailer Destination XL Group Inc. (DXL) is trying to make sure customers are satisfied at the very beginning of the fulfillment process.

DXL is utilizing the EZ-Ship Scan/Pack solution from supply chain management technology provider NGC Software. DXL will use EZ-Ship to reduce chargebacks and packing errors by validating the contents of each carton and shipment sent from its factories.

The retailer, which also utilizes NGC’s fashion product lifecycle management (PLM) application, is planning to roll out EZ-Ship, a factory-level scan/pack solution with electronic data exchange (EDI) functionality, at a dozen factory locations.

DXL’s latest work with NGC builds on its PLM implementation, which has helped streamline design and sourcing operations. It enables more frequent and timely communications with suppliers, while also reducing cost and improving product quality.

NGC EZ-Ship interfaces with the retailer’s SCM, ERP and EDI systems and allows for shipments to multiple distribution centers directly from the factory. The solution supports unlimited advance shipping notice (ASN) and label formats, providing remote shipping sites with the flexibility to use a standard import and export data set that interfaces with any ERP, warehouse management or distribution center system.

CRM is an important part of the omnichannel customer experience. Like the rest of omnichannel retailing, CRM needs firm support on the back-end as well as the front-end. DXL’s new initiative to guarantee correct shipments from the factory will go a long way toward ensuring the success of targeted promotions, purchases made across multiple channels, and other seamless customer-facing activities.
