Dept. of Homeland Security, Walmart partner in national security campaign
WASHINGTON, D.C. The Department of Homeland Security has teamed up with Walmart to bring its "If You See Something, Something" campaign to more communities throughout the United States.
More than 230 Walmart stores nationwide are now playing a short video message at select checkout locations. A total of 588 Walmart stores in 27 states will implement the program in the coming weeks, the company reported.
"Homeland security starts with hometown security, and each of us plays a critical role in keeping our country and communities safe," said Secretary Janet Napolitano. "I applaud Walmart for joining the ‘If You See Something, Say Something' campaign. This partnership will help millions of shoppers across the nation identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to law enforcement authorities."
The "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign originated in New York City through its Metropolitan Transportation Authority and over the past five months has expanded to other states.
