Delhaize reports Q3 profit gain

Brussels, Belgium Delhaize Group reported Friday that profits increased 10.1% for the third quarter ended Sept. 30.

U.S. sales of $4.8 billion for the slipped by 1.2% and comps were down by 1.3% due mainly to deflation, officials said, as targeted promotions and price investments helped increase volume and trips.

Overall sales edged up 1.9%.
