Delhaize optimizes in-store space
Brussels, Belgium Delhaize Belgium, a division of Delhaize Group, said Wednesday that it added a space optimization tool to improve its category and shelf performance chainwide.
Armed with the Apollo Designer Workstation, a module within the Apollo Space Optimization offering from Aldata, Atlanta, the 775-store grocery chain will create customer-centric planograms to deliver more tailored assortments. Delhaize expects the localized merchandising to improve inventory planning and help it better respond to customer demand.
“The one-size-fits-all approach to store planning is no longer effective,” said Tanguy t’Serstevens, VP supply chain for Delhaize. “Ensuring that we have the right products in the right place at the right time is critical to the success of our brands.”
Overall, Delhaize expects the solution to reduce out-of-stocks and over-stock of slow-moving merchandise, freeing up space for more fast-moving items.
