Cyber security on tap at DC event

Walmart’s senior director for payment strategy Reed Luhtanen is among a group of notable speakers scheduled to gather in Washington, D.C. September 10 to explore vulnerabilities and challenges faced by merchants and payment industry professionals.



The 2014 Merchant-Financial Services Cybersecurity Summit is presented by Bloomberg Government and the Merchant Financial Cyber Partnership. In addition to Luhtanen, other notable speakers include Katherine Lugar, CEO of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, Mike Rogers, chair of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, Nancy O’Malley, chief payment system integrity officer for MasterCard and Tim Pawlenty, CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable.



“Recent breaches in industry, educational facilities and within government highlight the need for public private partnership and collaboration among industry,” according to promotional materials for the half day event. “We’ll explore the core vulnerability and challenges we face. Including panel discussions on legislation and regulatory action to improve cybersecurity protection, the state of information sharing and what is on the horizon for securing advanced payments.”
