A new three-piece Modular Seating Collection has arrived in Target stores including armless and corner chairs and a matching ottoman. The furniture products, merchandised adjacent to frozen food in SuperTarget stores, feature bonded leather construction, below-seat storage on all pieces and connector clips to secure sections to one another. Even so, consumers looking to connect multiple pieces to create a seating solution could be in for a bit of sticker shock. Two corner pieces priced at $199 apiece and two armless chairs priced at $179 are needed to create a small couch, which combined with the $179 ottoman, ends up costing close to $1,000, if sales tax is included. For that kind of money, consumers may realize or a similar amount or even less, they can choose from a broader assortment of traditional couches at a value-oriented furniture retailer.
