Crock-Pot unveils smart slow cooker

Belkin and Crock-Pot have unveiled a smart slow cooker enabled with WeMo, a built-in technology that allows consumers to adjust, manage and monitor their slow cookers from anywhere using a smartphone or tablet.



“Since the announcement of the Crock-Pot Smart Slow Cooker enabled with WeMo at the 2014 International CES back in January, we have seen enormous interest in the slow cooker and its potential to bring the Internet of Things to life for consumers,” said Ohad Zeira, director of product management for WeMo. “Thanks to our collaboration with Jarden Consumer Solutions, we are expanding the realm of the connected home, allowing people new ways to interact with their kitchen that makes life easier and better.”



The Crock-Pot Smart Slow Cooker is touted as the first smartphone-controllable slow cooker. With the free WeMo app, users can receive notifications, change the cooking time, adjust the temperature, turn the slow cooker off or check the status of their meal from their mobile devices. It works with an existing Wi-Fi router and the WeMo app for iOS 6 or Android 4.0 or higher.
