CPG industry mourns loss of Rick Tilton
Longtime CPG industry executive and former GMDC president Rick Tilton has been laid to rest after passing away at his Arizona home on September 20.
Tilton spent 15 years with the consumer products division of Mead Corporation and rose to the role of vp of sales by the time he was 37. In 1974, Tilton joined GMDC which was known at the time as the General Merchandise Distributors Council, as the organization’s top staff executive. Tilton retired from GMDC, now known as the Global Market Development Center, in 2000 after a lengthy tenure as president and CEO of the organization.
Current GMDC president and CEO Dave McConnell said Tilton left a true legacy in the industry and helped build an organization that still stands proud today.
