Cornell to resign from OfficeMax board
NAPERVILLE, Ill. Brian Cornell, ceo of Michaels Stores, will resign from the OfficeMax board of directors, effective Feb. 14, the company announced Wednesday.
Cornell joined the OfficeMax board of directors in 2004 and is a member of the audit committee and the governance and nominating Committee. He was recently named Home Depot's board of directors.
"We appreciate the professional insights and business experience that Brian has brought to our board of directors," said Sam Duncan, chairman and ceo of OfficeMax. "The OfficeMax board wishes Brian all the best in his future endeavors."
Cornell joined Michaels last June following the 2006 acquisition of the company by private equity firms Bain Capital Partners and The Blackstone Group. Prior to joining Michaels, Cornell served for nearly three years as evp and chief marketing officer at Safeway.
