Coming soon: Avatar

Tuesday is typically the street date when new movies go on sale at retail, but when you are destined to be the highest grossing film of all time things are a little different. That is the case with this week’s launch of Avatar, as it is due to go on sale Thursday and such retailers as Target are making sure customers know they have the movie in DVD and Blu-Ray formats. The shift in timing is due to the fact that Thursday also happens to be Earth Day and a central theme of the Avatar’s plot line involved environmental preservation. Target featured the movie prominently in this past Sunday’s circular and on its Web site where the ability to pre-order was offered.
