Circuit City kicks up security

11/26/2007

DENVER Circuit City Stores has partnered up with Vericept, a leading provider of information outflow prevention solutions, to secure customer and corporate information.

As a leading specialty retailer of brand name consumer electronics and related services, Circuit City services millions of customers, employs thousands and manages numerous facilities throughout the U.S. With such a wide-scope of business operations, the corporation maintains a significant amount of customer data, intellectual property and proprietary information, which must be kept confidential, secure and in accord with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).

Circuit City plans to deploy Vericept's entire Data Loss Prevention solution product line to effectively protect their organization from the network to the endpoint.

"Circuit City is raising the bar and leading the way for ensuring retailers maintain the highest security standards regarding PCI DSS compliance while at the same time protecting their most valuable assets -- their sensitive customer data," said Dave Parkinson, president and ceo of Vericept.

Vericept is the only data loss prevention company that provides organizations with a comprehensive solution that defines, identifies and enforces sensitive information in motion and at rest.

The program helps members, merchants and service providers track, monitor, report on and protect all Internet-based transmissions of cardholder information to identify and prevent several loopholes, including: rogue transmission using unauthorized protocols, unencrypted cardholder data, and unauthorized access and/or theft of cardholder information.
