Circuit City to expand used game sales

2/7/2008

RICHMOND, Va. Circuit City plans to roll out used game sales to more stores this year after a successful test run in 2007.

Chief merchandising officer John Kelly said Circuit City has been testing sales of used games at 10 stores and online for close to a year and said it would “continue to move forward” with the test. Circuit City did not say when the test would expand to more stores or how many stores would carry games.

The chain is hoping to tap into a booming video game market that saw sales increase 28% in 2007 and help offset declining same-store sales that fell 11% in December.
