Chinese supermarket chain chooses supply chain platform
Atlanta Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates, announced that QKL Stores, a regional supermarket chain in Northeast China, has chosen Manhattan ILS: Integrated Logistics Solutions, built on Microsoft.NET, to support its expanding store network in the Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning Provinces and in the autonomous region of inner Mongolia.
The solution will be installed initially at QKL Stores' 211,000-sq.-ft. regional distribution center in Harbin, Heilongjiang and will allow the retailer to increase its picking options within the facility (by pallet, case, split case, carton) and introduce accelerated distribution techniques, such as cross-docking and flow-through.
The solution will be integrated with and complement other systems including radio-frequency technology and QKL Stores' merchandising and enterprise resource planning systems.
We're embarking on an aggressive store-expansion program and while we needed a sophisticated distribution infrastructure, we wanted a proven and flexible supply chain technology platform that would not only support and facilitate our continued growth but could be deployed in a relatively short time frame,” said QKL Stores COO Alan Stewart.
