Children's Place loss widens in Q2, but sales rise 9%
Secaucus, N.J. Children's Place Retail Stores reported Thursday that its second-quarter loss widened to $8.2 million in the quarter ended July 31, compared with a loss of $7 million a year earlier.
Sales climbed to $345.3 million from $315.7 million; however, higher expenses cut into the 9% sales increase. Same-store sales rose 3.3% in the United States and just less than 1% in Canada. Online same-store sales jumped 30%.
The retailer boosted its full-year earnings guidance which now matches Wall Street expectations.
