Chico's more than doubles Q2 profit

Fort Myers, Fla. Chico’s FAS reported Wednesday that net income for the second quarter soared to $30.5 million, more than doubling its profit of $14.9 million a year ago.

The company, which owns Chico’s and White House|Black Market, cited strong sales and traffic counts for the improvements.

Revenue rose 11% to $465.4 million, up from $419.9 million last year.

Same-store sales rose 6.4%, and direct-to-consumer sales rose 36% to $27.6 million.
