Charlotte Russe same-store sales down 8% in Q2

San Diego Charlotte Russe Holding reported a net loss of $0.8 million for its second quarter ended March 28, compared with a loss $4.2 million for the same period last year.

The company also reported net sales for the quarter increased 3.3% to $191.2 million, compared with $185.1 million in the fiscal first quarter 2008.

Same-store sales for the period decreased 8.0%.

During the quarter, the company recorded cash charges of $1.5 million for expenses related to proxy solicitation, management transition and severance, as well as costs related to the review of strategic alternatives and subsequent sale process.

The chain also recorded a non-cash charge of $1.6 million for store impairment.

Charlotte Russe opened one new store during the period.
