Charlotte Russe launches social commerce application on Facebook

9/22/2009

San Diego Charlotte Russe Holding is combining social marketing and online shopping with a new platform that allows Facebook users to shop the retailer’s e-commerce site.

The company has deployed an Allurent on Demand shopping experience application on its Facebook platform, according to an announcement by Cambridge, Mass.-based Allurent at the shop.org annual summit in Las Vegas late Monday.

Charlotte Russe already used Allurent on Demand to create merchandising displays on its Web site. It is now bringing the same Allurent-powered shopping experiences to its application on Facebook Platform.

“What’s unique is that we're bringing rich interactive shopping experiences directly to Facebook users,” said Craig Gillan, director of e-commerce at Charlotte Russe. “We're going to where our customers spend time and we're bringing them a fully merchandised and interactive shopping experience, rather than making them come to us.”

Gillan added that the addition is an extension of the Allurent on Demand application, allowing the Charlotte Russe merchandising team to update the shopping experiences on both the main site and on Facebook.

Allurent on Demand is a hosted, software-as-a-service offering that increases customer satisfaction and site conversion by deploying merchant-controlled widgets to e-commerce and social networking sites.
