5/30/2013

LONDON — The International Council of Shopping Centers’ executive committee has elected Marcus Wild, CEO of SES Spar European Shopping Centers, as divisional VP for the association’s European division.

Wild will be the first appointment to the newly created volunteer leadership position, which the association anticipates will better serve the needs of its European members. Wild has also served on the ICSC’s board of trustees for two years and is also the past chairman of the ICSC European Advisory Board. The announcement was made official during ICSC’s annual meeting of members at RECon, the global retail real estate convention.

“Marcus joins a distinguished group of ICSC members who not only develop new and exciting programs for our members, but also serve as the voice of the industry in their respective regions,” said ICSC president and CEO Michael P. Kercheval. “With Marcus representing ICSC membership in Europe, the wants, needs and desires of our members there will be addressed at the highest level of our organization. All of us here at ICSC look forward to working with Marcus during his term.”

During RECon, ICSC also announced that it has struck collaborative membership agreements with both the British and French Shopping Centre Councils to provide education, advocacy, research and networking opportunities for the retail real estate industry in these countries. With the addition of the British and French Shopping Centre Councils, ICSC’s European membership increased to 7,000, an all-time high for the organization.

Every year ICSC appoints volunteer officers and tasks them with the responsibility of representing the association-at-large. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, attending committee meetings, discussing concerns and activities within their region with other ICSC officers, mentoring members and other ICSC officials, promoting committee participation and other ICSC activities and ensuring that ICSC policies and procedures are upheld.

Founded in 1957, ICSC is the premier global trade association of the shopping center industry. Its more than 60,000 members in more than 90 countries include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, retailers and brokers, as well as academics and public officials.
