5/5/2010

ARLINGTON, Va. The Consumer Electronics Association has announced the 2010 class of inductees into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame.

“These leaders have developed, promoted and merchandized technologies and products that let consumers enjoy entertainment, connect to information and communicate with family and friends,” said CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro. He praised the new inductees for their efforts to improve the lifestyles of consumers all over the world.

These leaders will be inducted into the CE Hall of Fame at a special dinner and ceremony during CEA’s Industry Forum to be held in San Francisco on October 17 to 20. The judging for the 2010 inductees took place in New York City on Feb. 17. Nominations were submitted by industry professionals and media through online submissions.

This year's inductees include retailers Joe and Rachelle Friedman, founders of J&R Music and Computer World; David and Eugene Mondry of Highland Superstores; and Al Sotoloff, a former top executive of Philadelphia-based Silo Appliance City.
