Carter’s hits ‘record sales’ in Q3

10/27/2016

Based on its third quarter earnings, Carter’s predicts that is on its way to its 28th consecutive year of sales growth.

The brand specializing in babies and young children’s apparel and accessories reported a net sales increase of 6.1%, totaling $901.4 million. The company credits this growth on its U.S. Carter’s and OshKosh retail businesses, Carter’s wholesale business, and international segment.

For its retail segment specifically, sales increased $19.8 million, or 6.7%, to $314.7 million. Same-store comparable sales increased 2.1%, and the company opened 13 Carter’s stores and closed one store in the United States.

“In the third quarter, we achieved a record level of sales and earnings with sales growth in all channels of distribution,” said Michael Casey, chairman and CEO.

“Our performance in the quarter reflects significant growth in online sales and higher demand from international customers,” he added. “Given the current trends in our business, we expect to achieve our growth objectives this year and 28th consecutive year of sales growth.
