Carphone Warehouse Plans to Cut 450 Jobs in U.K.
London Carphone Warehouse Group said Thursday that it plans to eliminate 450 head office and support jobs in Britain. It said, however, that its retail outlets will not be affected.
The planned cuts, subject to a 90-day consultation with employees, represent 3.6% of the company's work force.
A company spokesman said Carphone hoped that many of the affected employees could move into other positions.
The rollout of Carphone's European joint venture with U.S. retailer Best Buy would not be affected, the spokesman said.
