Carhartt opens flagship store where it all began

Workwear brand Carhartt has opened a flagship in the city where it was founded in 1889.



The store, located in Detroit, will occupy the first floor of a a three-story, 51,000-sq.-ft. building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.



The Detroit landmark was constructed in 1928 by famed local architect Charles Agree, following an art deco design and construction, to serve as an automobile showroom. It is the original home of the Marmon Motors auto dealership and, for 40-plus years, the home of Cass Motors.



Carhartt's Detroit flagship will carry men's, women's and kids' apparel, footwear and accessories. It is the brand's 20th company-owned retail store, with other locations in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon,Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin
