Seattle -- Canadian outdoor clothing and gear retailer Arc’teryx has launched a new line of hiking footwear today using a 3D platform from Seattle-based startup Prizmiq's. The platform is designed to allow online customers to engage with the shoes the same way they would in the Arc'teryx store.
In a plus for shoppers, the technology doesn't require any plug-ins or downloads. The 3D shoe loads instantly, and customers can then interact with it as they please. The online product presentation is all made possible by a 3D renderer, called WebGL, that is enabled by default on every modern browser and device.
"Prizmiq is the most advanced tool for shopping on the web," said Prizmiq CEO Darrick Morrison. "Prizmiq gives the user a far more immersive and intuitive way to engage with online merchandise compared to 360 (degree) spin photography or even product videos.
