Burlington Stores CEO elevated to board chair
Burlington Stores president and CEO Thomas A. Kingsbury has been elected as chairman of the board of directors.
“We are excited to elect Tom to chair the board of directors of Burlington Stores. He has done an outstanding job as CEO since he joined the company in 2008. He has provided excellent strategic direction for the business, and he has used his leadership skills to build a strong team at the company. The growth of the business has been impressive under Tom’s leadership and we look forward to this continuing under Tom’s expanded role as chairman and CEO,” the board said in a statement.
The chairman spot has been vacant since April 2006 when the company was taken private by Bain Capital.
“I am honored to be chosen to serve as chairman of the board and would like to thank the board for their continued support,” said Kingsbury.
The company also announced the formation of a nominating and corporate governance committee of the company’s board of directors, which will be responsible for, among other things, identifying individuals qualified to become board members. The committee will be initially comprised of John Mahoney, Tricia Patrick and Jordan Hitch, each a current member of the company’s board of directors. Mahoney has been appointed as the committee’s chairman.
