7/8/2013

WHITE PLAINS — Burlington Coat Factory is joining the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night campaign for the 12th consecutive year. The retailer will be collecting donations at checkout to help support blood cancer research.

Burlington Coat Factory also plans to enlist its more than 28,000 employees nationwide to participate in Light the Night walks across the country to commemorate lives touched by cancer and raise funds to help fight blood cancers.

Throughout the past 11 years, Burlington has raised more than $16 million to help fund cancer research and patient services by engaging both customers and employees in the campaign. Customers can donate now through Oct. 19 at any one of Burlington's more than 500 locations in 44 states and Puerto Rico.

As part of this year's paper balloon icon program, Burlington has enlisted 1800Flowers.com to help. Every Burlington customer who donates to LLS at checkout will receive 20% off their entire merchandise purchase at 1800Flowers.com. In addition, 1800Flowers.com will donate a portion of their customer's online purchase to LLS.

"I am consistently impressed and overwhelmed by the tremendous generosity of our employees and our customers to give back in support of this important life-changing research," said Thomas Kingsbury, Burlington president and CEO. "We are looking forward to another outstanding campaign this season as we work together to raise funds in the fight against cancer."
