Burlington Coat Factory posts 4Q sales dip

BURLINGTON, N.J. Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse announced today that net sales from continuing operations for the third quarter ended March 1 were $987.1 million compared with $987.3 million for the comparative period ended March 3, 2007.

The company reported that comparable-store sales were down 6%, reflecting weak consumer demand.

Net sales from continuing operations for the nine months ended March 1 were $2.612 billion compared with $2.629 billion for the comparative period ended March 3, 2007, a 0.6% decrease. These results reflect a 5.8% comparative-store sales decrease for the nine-month period.
