Brand ranking has Target second
Interbrand Design Forum is out with its second annual ranking of the Most Valuable Retail Brands, and Target commands the second spot, with Walmart in first place. It is hard to imagine a different company in the top spot given that Walmart’s $258 billion U.S. business dwarfs the nation’s next largest retailer. Target is a sensible choice for the number two position, given the retailer’s iconic logo is recognized world wide.
“One of the several lessons we draw from the list is that the strong get stronger,” according to Lee Carpenter, CEO of Interbrand Design Forum.
Other top ranked companies included Best Buy, Home Depot, Walgreens, CVS, Sam’s Club, Dell, Coach, Amazon.com, Ebay, Lowe’s, Nordstrom, Staples and Costco. According to the firm, the brand rankings are produced based on a financial analysis of how much the company is likely to earn in the future, which is then fed through a proprietary analytic framework.
