Borders names new SVP merchandising, distribution

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Borders Group has named Larry Norton SVP merchandising and distribution, effective Aug. 31. He reports to Anne Kubek, EVP merchandising and marketing.

At Borders, Norton is responsible for leading the merchandising team, which includes the buying and planning organization for all Borders and Waldenbooks stores nationwide as well as the distribution group, which manages the company's national logistics network.

For the past two years, Norton has been consulting within the industry as president of Larry Norton & Associates. Prior to that, he was with Simon & Schuster for 13 years, most recently serving as president of the sales and distribution division. Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, he was with William Morrow & Co. for 12 years, where he began as a sales representative and was promoted to VP sales.
