2/19/2010

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Borders announced that it has provided more than 900,000 new books to children across the nation through its company-wide, community-based winter book drive. The books were purchased by Borders customers and then distributed by Borders and Waldenbooks stores to local non-profits across the country including UC Davis Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Rock for Reading, Starlight Children's Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, among other organizations.

"As a retailer, it's very gratifying to play such a big part in providing children of all ages access to books. Our book drives are highly successful because they directly impact the many communities we serve. We're grateful to all of our generous customers who have made all of our book drives so successful over the years," said Larry Norton, SVP merchandising for adult trade, children's and bargain.
