Borders celebrates Educator Appreciation Week

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Borders announced that it is celebrating educators with Educator Appreciation Week (Oct. 6 to 10) in Borders stores nationwide. During the event, Borders is giving educators a 25% discount off the list price of most items in store and an additional 10% discount if they become Borders Rewards Plus loyalty members. The company also announced that as part of its recently revamped Borders Rewards program, customers can now donate the Borders Bucks they've accrued to an educator — and Borders will match each donation during the month of October.

Members of the Rewards program accrue $5 in Borders Bucks for every $150 spent on qualifying purchases. Borders said it believes that donated Bucks, plus the donation matching, will have a positive impact on the availability of reading and scholastic materials in the classroom, as well as preparatory materials for instructors.

During Educator Appreciation Week, Borders reported it will also provide a variety of activities for pre-school and K through 12 current and retired teachers, professors, librarians and home schoolers.
