Books-A-Million taps new VP of e-commerce

Leading U.S. bookstore chain and online bookseller Books-A-Million has named James Phelps as VP of e-commerce.

For nearly 15 years, Phelps has served with retailers including HSN, Kohl’s Department Stores and Brookstone. Phelps is credited with advancing these companies with his expertise, resulting in optimized customer experiences across digital touch points, increased sales and revenue and critical process improvements to drive company profitability.



“I’m excited for the opportunity to bring my in-store experience to the Books-A-Million brand online,” said Phelps. “My focus is to not only create synergy between the online and in-store shopping experience, but to give our customers compelling reasons to make Booksamillion.com their primary destination for the best selection of books, toys, tech and more.”



By way of St. Petersburg, Florida, Phelps will join the Books-A-Million team as he relocates to Birmingham.
