Books-A-Million names human resources head

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Books-A-Million has named Mary Jane Karwoski as VP human resources. Karwoski will be responsible for overseeing employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development and recruiting for Books-A-Million.

Karwoski is a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education. She went on to earn her Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut School of Business. Prior to joining Books-A-Million, she worked for Blockbuster as a regional director operations and most notably with Borders Group as director human resources and regional sales director. Additionally, she has worked for Jamba Juice as a regional director operations and Franchise Leader where she was responsible for supporting franchise partners in the Midwest.
