Bon-Ton Unveils Real Estate Initiatives

York, Pa., The Bon-Ton Stores on Tuesday announced real estate initiatives regarding its Elder-Beerman stores located in Muskegon, Mich., and Morgantown, W. Va.

The Elder-Beerman department store in Muskegon will be converted into a furniture gallery, the company said. Construction on the 52,000-sq.-ft. gallery is expected to begin in March 2008, with completion scheduled for the end of July 2008. The furniture gallery will operate under the Younkers nameplate.

In addition, Bon-Ton will close its Elder-Beerman Morgantown East store located in Morgantown. The leasehold interest in the Morgantown East location was acquired by Bon-Ton in 2003 as part of the Elder-Beerman acquisition.

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. operates 280 stores, including 10 furniture galleries, in 23 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under a variety of nameplates, including Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers.
