B&N wants customers excited about 'Watchman'

The upcoming release of “To Kill a Mockingbird” author Harper Lee’s second book has caused widespread excitement, and now Barnes & Noble is looking to tap in to some of that with a special event at its stores.


The nation’s largest retail bookseller is inviting customers to take part in a special “To Kill a Mockingbird Book” Discussion event at all stores nationwide on May 14. The retailer says this is the first in a series of events at Barnes & Noble in celebration of the highly anticipated July 14 release of “Go Set a Watchman.”


“We are excited to welcome our customers on May 14 for what should be a riveting discussion of To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the most beloved and widely read books in America,” said Mary Amicucci, VP, adult trade and children’s books at Barnes & Noble. “This is the first event in a series that’s designed to generate conversation about Harper Lee’s exceptional work and build excitement for the fast-approaching release of ‘Go Set a Watchman.’ ”


The “To Kill a Mockingbird” event series continues on June 18 when Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will host a “To Kill a Mockingbird” Page & Screen discussion. This will be followed on July 13 with a special Read-A-Thon event on the eve of the July 14 release of “Go Set a Watchman.” Customers can also follow the Barnes & Noble events on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr, and like Barnes & Noble on Facebook, for the latest on all upcoming events and promotions.


Customers can pre-order “Go Set a Watchman” discounted at 40% off for Members and 30% off for Non-Members at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide and online at BN.com for 40% off.
