Online diamond and fine jewelry retailer Blue Nile has opened its first freestanding store, at Roosevelt Field Mall, in Garden City, N.Y. Designed by JGA, Southfield, Mich., the 325-sq.-ft. space, dubbed a “Webroom,” has a modern, inviting look.

The store features only several cases of product. Associates are equipped with tablets on which they can show customers Blue Nile's full selection of goods and assist them in making a purchase. Merchandise can be ordered and picked up at the store, which also provides free cleanings and repair.
