Blockbuster extends cable partnership
Dallas Blockbuster is entering into alliances with two more cable broadband operators, Suddenlink Communications and Mediacom Communications.
Through the deal, both cable companies will re-brand aspects of their services under the Blockbuster name, with the intention of promoting Blockbuster’s video-on-demand movie service to cable clients. The partnership is expected to roll out its services in phases, with the first phase beginning this month.
Blockbuster will promote the cable companies' services through in-store kiosks and promotions.
According to a statement released by Blockbuster, Suddenlink Communications has 1.3 million residential and commercial customers in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia.
Mediacom Communications is the eighth-largest cable-television company in the United States and serves primarily smaller cities and towns.
