BJ’s signs IT data center and application-management services agreement

Natick, Mass. BJ’s Wholesale Club has entered into a five-year agreement with Wipro Technologies, a global IT services business of Wipro Limited, whereby the supplier will provide IT data center and applications-management services to the warehouse club operator.

Under the agreement, Wipro will migrate BJ’s mainframe and open-systems environment to its state-of-the-art data center in Omaha, Neb. The shift will enable BJ’s to streamline its infrastructure solutions, provide operational flexibility and improve applications support while more efficiently managing the long-term IT spend.

Through the five-year agreement, BJ’s will also benefit from Wipro’s expertise in providing applications management and support, disaster recovery, enterprise security and compliance services.

“Our agreement with Wipro will help ensure that we can continue to meet our members’ desire for value without sacrificing quality while adapting to changes as we grow,” said John A. Polizzi, senior VP and CIO of BJ’s Wholesale Club, Natick, Mass., which operates 182 warehouse club stores and 103 gas stations in 15 eastern states.
