BJ's sees strong sales in June
NATICK, Mass. BJ's Wholesale Club today reported that net sales for June increased by 9.8% to $886.8 million from $807.3 million in June 2006. On a comparable-club basis, sales increased by 5.3%, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 1.4% and a negative impact of 0.4% from the absence of pharmacy sales versus last year. For the month of June last year, the company reported a comparable-club sales decrease of 0.1%, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 2.1%.
For the 22-week period, the company reported net sales of $3.6 billion compared to $3.3 billion last year, an increase of 7.7%. Comparable-club sales increased 3.4% for the 22-week period.
According to BJ's, sales were strongest in the Mid Atlantic and Upstate New York regions.
