BJ's Same-Store Sales Rise in August

Natick, Mass., BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. said Wednesday its same-store sales rose 1.4% in August. BJ's said same-store sales included a 2.4% drop-off in gasoline sales. The lack of pharmacy sales impacted same-store sales by 0.4%, the company added.

BJ's said total sales rose 6.4% to $661.7 million from $622.2 million during the month.

The company also said excluding those two negative factors, sales rose in all four weeks, with the highest increase in the first week of the month due to strong air conditioner sales.
