BJ's CEO pay valued at $4.9 million
Portland, Ore. BJ's Wholesale Club CEO Laura Sen received compensation valued at $4.9 million in 2009, her first year leading the company, according to an Associated Press report of a regulatory filing.
Sen became CEO 2009 after working as president and COO for the company.
Sen's 2009 fiscal year compensation included a $900,000 base salary and a $179,783 bonus. She also got $1.2 million in performance-based pay and stock worth $2.5 million at the time it was granted.
The company also gave her $107,258 in other compensation, which included a car allowance, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.
BJ's has seen some shoppers turn to its membership clubs during the recession for deals on necessities, but it has struggled with lower prices for food and gas.
As a result, its profit slipped 2% in 2009 to $132.1 million, from $134.6 million the prior year.
