Birks & Mayors sales rise 29% in Q4

Montreal Jeweler Birks & Mayors said Tuesday that net sales during the quarter ended March 27 increased 29% to $63.6 million, from $49.2 million in the year-ago period.

Comp-store sales rose 18%.

For the fiscal year ended March 27, net sales were $255.1 million, down 6%. Comparable-store sales for the fiscal year decreased by 6% as well.

Birks & Mayors operates 33 stores (Birks Brand) across most major metropolitan markets in Canada, two retail locations in Calgary and Vancouver under the Brinkhaus brand and 29 stores (Mayors Brand) across Florida and Georgia.
