Big Lots launches effort to help sick kids
Big Lots is giving customers a chance to support a cause likely to appeal to a large part of its core market: pediatric health care.
Customers will have a chance to donate in-store at all 1,464 store locations and online to support Nationwide Children's Hospital. The program will run through Oct. 31 with 100% of the proceeds raised going to support Nationwide Children's.
"We at Big Lots are thankful we can help make a difference in the lives of children by offering this donation opportunity," said CEO David Campisi. "When customers shop Big Lots, they will now have the chance to donate to Nationwide Children's Hospital to support lifesaving research and care efforts—essentially, they can 'pay it forward' from the money they save when they discover great merchandise at our everyday low prices. Our associates are energized about the opportunity to support such a great organization financially through this company initiative and our recently established Big Lots Foundation."
Nationwide Children's is one of America's largest pediatric health care and research centers delivering care for more than 1 million patient visits each year. In the last year alone, the hospital has treated children from 49 states and 41 countries around the world while providing nearly $130 million in charity care and community benefit.
