Big 5 Sporting Goods reports profit drop in Q3
El Segundo, Calif. Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. reported Tuesday that net income for the quarter ended Oct. 3 decreased to $6.8 million, compared with net income of $8 million in the year-ago period.
Revenue edged up to $231.8 million, compared with $231.6 million a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 2%.
The sporting goods retailer opened three new stores during the quarter, bringing its total store count to 391 stores.
