Best Buy ventures into green vehicles
MINNEAPOLIS Leading consumer electronics retailer Best Buy is venturing into a new territory -- green vehicles.
According to reports, Best Buy has started selling electric vehicles, including bicycles, scooters and Segway transporters, at 21 of its West Coast stores.
Among the vehicles Best Buy is offering is the Enertia motorcycle, which retails for $11,995 and can be charged in about three hours from a regular wall outlet. The motorcycle reportedly also can reach about 50 miles per hour and gets the equivalent of 373 miles per gallon and costs less than one cent per mile to run.
Green vehicles is just one of the ways Best Buy is looking to expand beyond traditional CE products. According to reports, the retailer is looking into selling home energy management systems to help customers cut back on energy usage.
