8/7/2008

Minneapolis Best Buy Co. Inc. spent $100,000 in the second quarter to lobby on the conversion to digital television requirements and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.

The government is requiring broadcast television networks to switch solely to a digital signal from analog in 2009.

The company also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving trade, credit-card transaction costs, electronics recycling and solar energy.

In the April-June period, Best Buy lobbied Congress, the U.S. Trade Representative, the Department of Commerce, Federal Communications Commission and the White House, according to the report filed July 14 with the House clerk's office.
