Best Buy Names New Executives

Minneapolis Best Buy Co. has appointed several executives to new positions across Best Buy International, the division dedicated to developing growth opportunities outside of the United States.

David Berg has been named COO and executive VP, Best Buy International. Berg, who most recently served as Best Buy’s executive VP, will be responsible for the operation of all of Best Buy’s brands and businesses outside of the United States.

Tasso Koken was named senior VP, international merchandising and global sourcing. In this newly created role, he will oversee the division’s global-sourcing initiatives and is responsible for expanding the company’s private-label sales worldwide. Koken joined Best Buy in 2006 as senior VP, merchandising.

Keith Nelson was named senior VP, commercial. In this newly created role, Nelson will act as general counsel for the division. Prior to joining Best Buy, Nelson was chief administrative officer and general counsel at Danka Business Systems.

Alejandro Montoya was names VP, international strategy. He will work with Berg to identify and assess strategic opportunities for global expansion. Montoya recently was VP responsible for the company’s global wireless initiatives.

Finally, Paul Antoniadis was named CEO of Best Buy Brands, a division of Best Buy Europe. This new venture evolved through the company’s The Carphone Warehouse brand. He is responsible for establishing a Best Buy presence in Europe. Previously, Antoniadis was senior VP of international retail operations, responsible for evolving the Best Buy brand in China, Mexico and Turkey.
