Best Buy bets on GoPro

10/3/2014

The consumer electronics category is expected to set a holiday sales record this season and one of the hottest brands going right now is the GoPro line of cameras and accessories.

That explains why Best Buy just expanded its offering of the popular brand to feature a striking 12 foot display that features an endcap with a 40 inch monitor to showcase the type of video the GoPro line is capable of capturing. A centerpiece of the display will be the brand’s new HERO4 model which will be available on October 5.

The new display gives GoPro at Best Buy a much more compelling presentation than the prior four foot section. The offering of GoPro accessories has also been tripled. Best Buy has offered GoPro products since 2010, but the brand has experienced explosive growth this year and recently completed an initial public stock offering.

“This expansion will provide GoPro with a significant increase in shelf space from one of our biggest retail partners in North America,” said GoPro SVP of intergalactic sales, Jonathan Harris. “We’re excited to offer our customers a more compelling experience at most Best Buy locations each time they interact with our products in the store.”

“Best Buy is the destination for the best in digital imaging technology, and GoPro’s new line of cameras delivers just that for our customers,” said Marie Grable, merchant director of digital imaging at Best Buy. “This unique new display, featuring the entire line up of cameras and accessories, is a must see for consumers who are looking to get their hands on the latest from GoPro.”
