Bergren to stay on as Bon-Ton ceo

YORK, Pa. Bon-Ton announced that its board of directors unanimously asked Byron Bergren to continue in his role as president and ceo. Bergren’s contract stipulates he would continue to serve as president and ceo through Jan. 31, 2009 and would serve in an important role to be determined by the board of directors from Feb. 1, 2009 through Feb. 5, 2010.

Bergren commented, "I welcome the opportunity to continue to lead Bon-Ton’s strong, experienced management team and dedicated group of associates. We are facing today’s challenges with effective execution for a better and more profitable tomorrow, as well as working towards enhancing value for Bon-Ton shareholders and offering exciting new prospects for our customers and associates."
