Bebe uses in-store ambient-scent technology to promote fragrance

8/21/2009

Milwaukee Bebe stores is using ambient-scent technology to launch its new fragrance in its U.S. stores.

The retailer selected Prolitec’s Air/Q Adjustable Room Air Freshener, a miniaturized and fully programmable version of the company’s ambient-scenting technology to introduce the new scent, which now wafts through select areas of Bebe's stores.

“With Prolitec's innovative scenting machines strategically placed in our stores, clients will experience an immediate emotional connection to the scent," said Manny Mashouf, chairman and CEO, Bebe stores. “This is a terrific way to reveal our new undeniably feminine fragrance in a subtle yet sensual manner and, based on initial results, we are encouraged by the overwhelming response.”

Rather than scenting the entire store, the Air/Q allows the retailer to scent specific in-store areas, such as those around the visual displays that introduce the new fragrance, explained Roger Bensinger, executive VP marketing and business development, Prolitec, Milwaukee.

"This allows Bebe to marry its visual marketing efforts with the olfactory experience of the fragrance itself -- a very powerful combination," he added.
