8/28/2009

Brisbane, Calif. Bebe Stores late Thursday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss on lower sales and prices, but adjusted results still beat analyst expectations.

Losses for the quarter ended July 4 totaled $323,000, compared with a profit of $16 million in the year-ago period. Adjusted results exclude employee acquisition and termination costs, asset write-downs and write-offs.

Revenue fell 24% to $130.2 million. Analysts expected revenue of $129.4 million.

Same-store sales fell 29.6% during the quarter.

Looking ahead, Bebe also said Thursday it expects to report lower earnings for its first quarter than analysts expect.
